National Federation of Federal Employees Local 1 is a democratic, member-led union representing over 1,200 healthcare professionals at the San Francisco VA Healthcare System. We fight for safe, healthy, and fair working conditions so that we as healthcare professionals can focus on what matters most:
- Providing high quality, compassionate public healthcare for Veterans and their families.
- Improving the health and well-being of the nation through education and training of future healthcare professionals, health research, and service during national emergencies.
NFFE Local 1 negotiates working conditions at the local VHA facility level (ie, at SFVAHCS). NFFE Local 1 also participates in negotiation of working conditions at the national VHA level as a voting member of the NFFE National VA Council, which is made up of NFFE Local chapters across VHA.
